Q: How do I know if I'm making the right decision?

Updated: Jan 29

“Throughout the course of our lives, events occur that take us in new directions. Sometimes our life changes as the result of deliberate decisions we make.” - Barbara Bernard A helpful tool I have been taught to ask is: “Does it feel heavy or light?”

Don’t let fear, shame, or blame hold you back from achieving your dreams or doing something that makes your heart sing. Don’t let feelings of guilt get in the way of saying no. What if you’re torn and decide to make the decision anyway because the mere thought of not supporting someone you admire or love seems unbearable? Do you feel resentful after making the decision? That’s a good check-in. When it comes to self care, I have to remind myself that giving myself permission to say no is not an act of being selfish, it’s simply knowing when to draw the line so that I can fill my own cup. Don’t wait until your cup is empty to nourish yourself, you may risk having nothing left to consume. After all, how can you help others when you’re own tank is running on empty? (Analogy limit reached) I’ve noticed it’s common for individuals with autoimmune conditions to consistently put others before themselves throughout their lives, even if it means jeopardizing their own well-being.

Heart Wisdom: This heart sighting represents the different paths we can take. Sometimes we need to make a choice between a rock and a hard place. Sometimes we need to climb over a fence not knowing what awaits. And sometimes, we need to dive into a bed of heart-shaped clovers.
