When I first started getting acquainted with crystals, I automatically dropped them in the category of “woo-woo.” I felt the only place they belonged was encased in a piece of jewelry and anyone who had them was a weed-obsessed hippie with a reflex for flashing peace signs (nothing wrong with that) or a gypsy who stares into a crystal ball while speaking in a hypnotic tone to reveal your future (inevitably telling you you’re cursed). Either that, or I am in denial and I’m becoming one of them. . Then one day, you do your research and understand that they are minerals (gifts) from the earth that are no different than the plant/tree kingdom, easy on the eyes and comprise of a range of healing properties. Makes you realize how awesome and fascinating this field really is. . History of Crystals . Crystals have been used for centuries as tools for healing and increasing levels of awareness, with stones holding specific frequencies and properties. . The earth vibrates at a specific frequency known as the “Schumann resonance,” which hovers around 7.8 Hz (with variation across regions) and is said to be on the rise. We feel the impact of any dissonance, which is why it’s vital to raise our awareness and frequency. Such frequencies impact our autonomic nervous system, brain and cardiovascular system. Imbalances can result in mental/emotional chaos, leading to physical manifestations in the form of disease and ailments. . Crystals are compared to the earth’s DNA, a chemical imprint for evolution. Based on how and where it was formed, each crystal has its own specific “note.” At the heart of each crystal is the atom and its surrounding particles which are constantly in motion. Although a crystal appears still and solid, it’s a mass that is vibrating at a certain frequency. . Much like plants and trees and their role in aromatherapy, the healing properties of each crystal can be associated with the way in which it was formed. A number of the earth’s crystals were formed millions of years ago. Even the earliest civilizations have used crystals as a part of healing therapies. Crystals have historically been used to generate energy, enhance communication and improve well-being. Today, crystals can be found in the microchips of computers, smartphones, watches, lasers, ultrasound equipment and other types of electrical equipment. . Crystals have the ability to absorb, deflect, attract, channel, focus and amplify energy. . Crystals for Balancing Chakras . Along with our physical body, we also have a subtle body that consists of channels of energy. When the flow of energy through these channels gets blocked, we may be susceptible to experiencing illness and dis-ease. . Chakras are energy centers/vortexes and are located throughout your body. Although there are over 100 chakras, there are seven major chakras. Each chakra correlates to a part of the body, including organs and glands. They are associated with specific physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states. . From acupuncture to reiki, there are a range of therapies to help enhance the free flow of energy through the subtle body. When it comes to crystals, they help enhance the free flow of energy with the subtle body by amplifying, releasing and channeling energy. . There are a multitude of options and combinations, but here are some suggested crystals for chakra balancing. .
